Symposed

Cookie Policy

Last updated 6 July 2026

1. About this policy

This policy explains how Symposed uses cookies and similar storage or access technologies on symposed.org and related applications. It should be read with our Privacy Notice.

"Cookies and similar technologies" may include cookies, local storage, software-development-kit storage, pixels, tags, scripts, device identifiers and comparable technologies that store information on, or access information from, a user's device.

2. Categories we may use

  • Strictly necessary technologies: required for authentication, security, session management, fraud prevention, load balancing or a feature you expressly request. Where the legal exception applies, consent is not required.

  • Preference or appearance technologies: remember choices such as display or interface preferences. Some uses may fall within a legal exception; others may require a choice depending on how they operate.

  • Statistical or analytics technologies: help us understand aggregate use and improve the Service. UK law now contains a statistical-purposes exception for certain uses that meet specified conditions, including providing information and a simple means of objecting. Where an exception does not apply, we will obtain consent before using non-essential technologies.

  • Advertising and measurement technologies: may be used to display, measure or personalise advertising. Non-essential advertising or tracking technologies will only be used where permitted by law and, where required, after the user has made an appropriate choice.

  • Third-party technologies: providers used for hosting, authentication, email, analytics, advertising, consent management or embedded content may use their own technologies. Their role and privacy information should be identified where relevant.

3. Your choices

Where consent is required, non-essential technologies should not be activated before you make a choice. We do not currently use any technologies that require consent, so there is no consent tool to manage. If we introduce one, a settings control will appear here first. Rejecting non-essential technologies should not prevent access to the core Service, although some optional features may work differently.

Where we rely on a legal exception that requires a simple means of objecting, we will provide that means through our cookie or privacy controls.

4. Advertising

Symposed may be supported by advertising. Depending on the advertising model, ads may be contextual or may use measurement or personalisation technologies. We will identify the advertising provider and configure consent/preferences in accordance with applicable law before activating non-essential ad tracking.

5. Current technology schedule

We keep this schedule deliberately simple because Symposed currently uses only strictly necessary technologies. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

  • Supabase authentication cookies (names beginning sb-) - strictly necessary. Keep you signed in and secure your session. Set when you log in; refreshed while you use the Service; removed on sign-out or expiry.

  • symposed.cookie-consent (browser local storage) - strictly necessary. Records the choice you made on our cookie notice so we do not ask repeatedly. Kept until you clear your browser storage.

  • Vercel (our hosting provider) does not set cookies for our current configuration. Resend (email delivery) operates server-side and sets no browser storage.

If we introduce any analytics or advertising technology we will update this schedule and, where required, ask for consent first.

6. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when our technologies or providers change. The current effective date appears at the top of this policy. Questions about cookies or similar technologies can be sent via our contact form.
